LED panels are a relatively new development of manufacturers of LED lighting, which appeared on the market to meet the demand for lighting for suspended ceilings. Before the invention of LED panels this function was performed by LED spotlights, but the light they emit is not completely homogenous in all parts of the room, and does not create the comfort, which is achieved with LED panels. Among other things, LED panels are mounted extremely easily – they just need to be put in the place of a standard element of the ceiling, and after that connected to the supply line.

The initial construction of LED panels was a little rough and bulky, but soon manufacturers of LED started creating very thin and lightweight LED panels that can be mounted even in very shallow suspended ceilings, according to customer requirements. LED panels can be rectangular, square and round, with a large variety of sizes.

The soft, pleasant and evenly distributed light which LED panels emit quickly made them a bestseller on the market for LED lighting. All this is combined with the other advantages of LED lighting – 100 times longer life than ordinary incandescent bulbs, as well as extremely high electricity saving, which in some models reaches over 90%.

Other advantages of all LED lighting sources is that, unlike CFL lamps (known as energy-saving lamps) LED lamps do not need time to reach their maximum luminous flux, they aren’t affected by frequent commutation, like all other lamps,  they don’t pollute the environment, i.e. they are environmentally friendly because they don’t contain lead or mercury, they operate with low voltage and therefore are safe, unlike fluorescent tubes they are resistant to stroke and vibration, they don’t emit IR and UV rays, and have very low dazzling factor thanks to the scattered diffuse light provided by the lens surface of the panel.

In warm weather LEDs do not additionally heat the room, like conventional incandescent bulbs, thereby reducing the consumption of air conditioning systems to cool the premises.

Finally, let us note that LED panels’ light doesn’t flicker, which, even invisible to the eye, very quickly leads to fatigue, decreased ability to concentrate and irritability. This is an important advantage particularly in winter months when the natural daylight is not enough and we need to use additional lighting in offices almost during the whole day. Except in suspended ceilings, LED panels can be placed freely and hanging, which creates an opportunity for interesting interior design solutions. Sometimes LED panels are used in vertical walls separating two neighboring areas, thereby creating stylish indoor low light.

The market offers waterproof LED panels as well, which are ideal for wet areas such as bathrooms, locker rooms or spa areas with indoor pools. There are also mini LED panels suitable for smaller areas, such as hallways, elevators, repair rooms, etc.
