The generation of digital programmable timers that read geographical coordinates is a modern means of automation of systems for illuminating objects, lighting and advertising boards, shop windows, signs, posters or street lighting of towns, providing significant cost saving and maintenance-free operation. The devices have enough power to control lighting fixtures with total consumption of up to 4000W, which means that if you use LED lighting, consuming 40W, a timer can switch up to 100 lamps. The photoelectric timer can be programmed weekly, which means that it can be programmed to distinguish between the working days and the weekend, when necessary. Its on and off function, depending on the light, makes it suitable for automation of street lighting. This makes sure that the controlled lighting always switches on automatically at sunset and switches off at dawn. The AHC 15T model, unlike the other electronic and analog timers, can be further adjusted according to the geographical position of the controlled object.

Its electrical and mechanical durability are extremely high and reach over 1 million cycles. There is a convenient LCD display that is used during the programming process and provides information about the settings of the device. It is important to note that the device has insignificant own consumption, very small sizes and can be placed on the DIN rail of the distribution board.

But its most significant advantage is that the programmed switching times depend on the latitude and the length of day, which means that if you set the timer to switch on the light of the object (e.g. park, district or parking lot) at 9:00 p.m., but during the given season at the definite geographic coordinates the sun sets at 9:30 – the timer will be started at 9.30. This makes it extremely easy to operate with this timer and saves significant amounts of electricity. There is no need to make full reprogramming every 2-3 months when the sunset and the sunrise become significantly different from the previously set times during the programming.

The function associated with the astronomical correlation may not be switched on, if you do not want it to comply with the sunrise and sunset at the specific location. However, when switched on, the setting begins with the selection of the hemisphere where you are – north or south. Then you need to determine the geographical width, which by the way is written on all maps or to search the Internet. When you set it, you can start setting the date, time and the switching times. All this is described in details in the instructions of the controller. The device operates with very little deviation from the set time – about 2s, wide operating temperature and normal humidity: from 35 to 85%. It bears significant deviations from the nominal voltage, which makes it indispensable in small and remote settlements with unstable nominal voltage. It can operate at both 180VAC and at 250VAC.  The programmable photoelectric switch is equipped with a protective cover, which closes after the programming is done and protects the display and the buttons from mechanical damage and dust.

As a conclusion we will mention that the photoelectric weekly programmable timer with astronomical correlation for DIN rail is an extremely useful device, which, thanks to the money saved on electricity, repeatedly pays its price.
